U-Shade was born from a simple question: Why do we think short sleeves keep us cooler?

 Engineering Clothing With Purpose

U-Shade was built on a simple belief. Clothing should do more than look good. It should solve real problems in a clean, elegant way.

U-Shade introduces a new use-place in apparel by blending engineering, human ergonomics, and refined garment design into a single shirt that moves effortlessly between casual and dress settings.

The Founder’s Vision

U-Shade was founded by Don Titel, a three-time U.S. patent holder and senior manufacturing engineer.

By studying natural arm reach, body ratios, and how people actually carry their everyday essentials, Don identified a gap in traditional apparel design. Most clothing looks good but ignores how it is used. U-Shade was created to change that.

The result is an engineered garment designed to work with the human body rather than against it.

A New Use-Place in Clothing

This shirt was designed to create a new category of function within everyday wear; between a work shirt and a dress shirt for men

Through protected engineered design construction methods and placement, the pockets allow for functional, comfortable carry while maintaining a clean silhouette. It delivers function without bulk, distortion, or visual noise.

This concept is conveyed through U-Shade Functional Clothing, LLC and protected through trademark, trade secrets, and copyright, establishing a new way to design, use, and understand functional apparel. (see our photo page)

Manufacturing Expertise Meets Design

To bring this engineering vision to life, Don partnered with Jasmin Aguilar.

Jasmin is a trained garment designer with over 14 years of experience as the owner of a specialty apparel manufacturing business in Manila, Philippines. Her work includes producing staff uniforms, sales jackets, hotel and convention emblems, and school uniforms.

Her expertise helped translate engineered concepts into refined, wearable garments while enhancing construction quality, fit, and long-term durability.

Designed for Protection and Performance

Function extends beyond storage.

Jasmin played a key role in advancing the garment’s protective capabilities, with a focus on reducing ultraviolet exposure across both UVA and UVB ranges. The result is a shirt designed not only for convenience and comfort, but for everyday environmental protection.

Built for Real Life

U-Shade was created for people who value thoughtful design, subtle innovation, and clothing that earns its place in the closet.

Don and Jasmin hope you discover how this shirt fits naturally into your daily routine and becomes a piece you reach for again and again.

Welcome to the growing community of functional clothing users.
